About Tokai Traveller

Tokai Traveller is a small, independent travel publication devoted to central Japan — the region around Nagoya that most itineraries treat as a blur through the train window between Tokyo and Kyoto.

We travel the routes ourselves and write the guides we wish we'd had: specific about transport and timing, honest about crowds and cost, and drawn to the slower experiences — a maglev ride through the hills, a walk on an old post road, a hot spring at dusk.

What we cover

• Aichi Prefecture, including the Expo Memorial Park in Nagakute and the Ghibli Park attractions within it
• Day trips across Gifu, Mie, and Nagano — castle towns, sacred shrines, and mountain valleys
• Japan travel fundamentals: rail, onsen, konbini, food culture, and multi-day itineraries
